Add MCP tools to an AiseraGPT application
Add registered MCP tools to an AiseraGPT application and configure fulfillment priority so the AI evaluates them correctly.
Add MCP tools to an AiseraGPT application
After registering an MCP server, you add individual tools to a specific AiseraGPT application and enable them as active fulfillment sources. Both steps are required: adding a tool to the application makes it available for selection, but the Aisera Platform does not call the tool until External Tools is added to the application's Fulfillment Types.
Before you begin
At least one MCP server must be registered to your tenant with tools selected. See Register an MCP server.
Add tools and enable fulfillment
Go to Settings > AiseraGPT.
Select the AiseraGPT application you want to add tools to.
On the application details page, find the External Tools section.
Select + Add External Tool.
In the Add External Tool window, select the checkbox next to each tool you want to register to this application.
Select OK. The selected tools appear in the External Tools table.
Select the pencil icon to open the Edit AiseraGPT window.
Select the Advanced tab.
In the Fulfillment Types field, select the checkbox next to External Tools. The Aisera Platform does not call any MCP tools for this application until this checkbox is selected. Select any other fulfillment types you want active.
Select Save.
The application now calls MCP tools when resolving user queries.
Set a custom fulfillment priority order
By default, the Aisera Platform evaluates fulfillment sources in its own default order. If you want to control the order in which fulfillment types are evaluated, you can set a custom priority.
Select the pencil icon to open the Edit AiseraGPT window.
Select the Advanced tab.
Toggle off Default Fulfillment Priority. When toggled off, the items listed under Fulfillment Priority become reorderable.
In the Fulfillment Priority list, drag each item to the position that reflects the order you want the AI to evaluate fulfillment sources. Items higher in the list have higher priority.
Select Save.
Remove a tool from an application
Go to the External Tools section on the AiseraGPT application details page.
Hover over the tool you want to remove. An X appears on the right side of the row.
Select X.
When prompted, select OK to confirm removal.
The tool is removed from the application and is no longer available as a fulfillment source. It remains registered to the tenant and can be added to other applications.
