Creating a Connector
Learn the flow of connecting applications to the Aisera Platform
Overview
Aisera integrates with various applications to pull, process, query data, and even send it to other applications. This is done through the creation of a Connector. Though the details may vary for your environment and third-party application, each connection follows a similar basic process.
This process can be generalized into four steps.
Prepare
Before connecting an application it is recommended that you gather the required information. This will make the process of setting up the connection smooth, and will allow you to focus only on what is necessary to complete the steps required within the Aisera Platform.
This step can include:
Gathering the necessary credentials to extract or push data to external systems
Enabling necessary permissions for Aisera Platform access to your external system
Installing necessary software and opening channels of communication for the Aisera Platform to interact with your external system
It is advised that your read the document for the application you are attempting to connect to in full before beginning the connection process to get a full picture of what will be required for the connection.
If there is a service you want to connect to the Aisera Platform that does not have an Out of the Box Connector, you will need to use the Generic Connector.
Create an Integration
An Integration is part of a Connector that holds authentication details and the for your data. Here, you choose the authentication method for your third-party application, store credentials, and define URLs for accessing the site or API from which you will retrieve data.
For an outline on creating an Integration, please refer to Adding an Integration to Your Tenant.
Configure a Data Source
The Data Source is the part of a Connector that defines how the Aisera Platform communicates and interacts with your third-party application. The Data Source contains information about which Integration to use, what functions and operations will be performed with the third party application, how data ingress and egress will operate, and how data will be mapped for use on the Aisera Platform.
For an outline on creating a Data Source, please refer to Adding a Data Source to your Tenant.
Apply Optional Configurations
Each application you connect to the Aisera Platform will have a unique set of functions and capabilities. After completing the standard process of connecting your application by creating an Integration and Data Source, you may need to apply additional configurations to ensure that your Connector works with your environment, complies with company standards, or meets your needs.
If you are using an Out of the Box Connector, these configurations can be found in the documentation for that Connector. If you are hooking up an application using the Generic Connector, contact your Aisera team for further assistance in creating and configuring your Connector.
