# Importing Field Maps

The **Import Fields** button opens the Import Field Mappings dialog. Select a `.json` file to import; only `.json` files are accepted. If the file is not valid JSON, the import will fail with an error.

Importing appends the mappings from the file to the Data Source's existing mappings. It does not replace them.

The expected file format is the one produced by the [Export Fields](/aisera-platform/adding-data-to-your-tenant/data-ingestion/field-maps/exporting-field-mappings.md) operation.
